Pond Steps
Over the Summer of 2019, 54 steps were cut
at an average 35 degree slope, rising a total of about 25 feet. Using pressure treated 6”6” railroad ties.
Because the site is within an “Area of Critical Environmental Concern,” care was taken to reroute ground roots instead of cutting through them, and knotches were carved into the wood where obstacles made it necessary. The steps are filled with gravel, moss and soil to allow for water permeability and reduce runoff.
